Working Capital Analysis Mastery

Business finance isn't just about spreadsheets and formulas. It's about understanding what those numbers actually mean for a company's day-to-day operations.

Our program takes a different approach. You'll work through real business scenarios where cash flow decisions matter. Not hypothetical textbook examples—actual situations where working capital management makes or breaks operational success.

Starting September 2026, we're running cohorts of 15 participants. That's intentional. Small groups mean you get detailed feedback on your analysis work, not generic comments.

What You'll Actually Learn

We've structured this around four core areas that come up repeatedly in real finance roles. Each module builds practical skills you'll use immediately if you work in financial analysis or business operations.

1

Current Asset Management

You'll analyze inventory turnover, receivables collection patterns, and cash conversion cycles. We look at companies across different industries because what works for manufacturing doesn't work for services.

2

Liquidity Assessment Methods

Quick ratios, working capital ratios, and cash flow analysis. More importantly—when each metric actually matters and when it misleads you. Financial ratios aren't magic; context determines their usefulness.

3

Short-Term Financing Decisions

Trade credit terms, line of credit structures, and factoring arrangements. You'll evaluate when companies should use each option based on cost, flexibility, and operational fit.

4

Operational Cash Flow Planning

Building realistic cash forecasts that account for seasonal patterns, payment timing, and growth scenarios. The kind of planning that helps businesses avoid liquidity crunches before they happen.

How the Program Actually Works

We're not fans of lecture-heavy formats. You'll spend most of your time working through business cases, analyzing financial statements, and building your own assessment frameworks.

Each week you'll receive financial data from a real company situation—names changed, but the numbers and decisions are authentic. Your job is to assess their working capital position and recommend improvements.

Case-Based Analysis

Work through six comprehensive business cases during the program. You'll submit written analysis, then we discuss your findings as a group to see different analytical approaches.

Small Group Sessions

Weekly two-hour sessions with your cohort. Half that time is new material, the other half is reviewing your case work and addressing specific questions that came up.

Build Your Own Models

You'll create working capital analysis templates you can actually use afterward. We provide the structure, but you adapt them to match how you think about financial assessment.

Program Information

The next cohort starts in September 2026. We run it over twelve weeks, with one three-hour session per week. Between sessions, expect to spend about four to six hours on case analysis and reading.

Schedule Details

Sessions run Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, starting September 8, 2026. All times are AEST. Sessions are held in person at our Melbourne location, with materials available for review afterward.

What You Need

Basic financial statement reading ability and spreadsheet comfort. If you can build formulas in Excel and understand what balance sheets show, you're ready.

  • Laptop for analysis work during sessions
  • Spreadsheet software for case assignments
  • Financial calculator if you prefer one

Completion Requirements

Submit analysis for at least five of the six major cases. Attend ten of twelve sessions. There's a final assessment where you evaluate a comprehensive business scenario.

Course Materials

All case studies, reading materials, and analysis templates are provided. You'll also get access to our reference library of working capital examples from various Australian industries.
